Dr. Alfonso Cruz Jentoft
Alfonso José Cruz-Jentoft (Male, MD PhD) is the Chair of both the Geriatric Dpt. and the Geriatric research group at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital, Madrid (Spain). This research group has been working in geriatric nutrition, leading the European (and most widely used and cited) definition of sarcopenia, which has been evolving. More recently, the research group is working in a definition of sarcopenic obesity after performing a systematic review of available studies. Cruz-Jentoft’s Geriatric research group has been part of several European projects on sarcopenia and nutrition, including the SPRINT-T trial, an RCT of an intervention with nutrition, exercise and IT technologies to prevent disability in older people with sarcopenia and frailty, and the last JPI on malnutrition in older people (MaNuEl).
