Future professionals are trained at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) in a variety of higher education topics and disciplines. The AUAS enables students, lecturers, and researchers to create cutting-edge, valuable knowledge and innovations because of our distinct concentration on applied sciences. Our students and lecturers use the city as their classroom and collaborate closely with a wide range of businesses, organizations, and sectors to develop innovative solutions to the problems that face our city. Prof. Dr. Peter Weijs is the head of the Nutrition and Exercise research group. This department has a long history of conducting well designed diet and exercise studies.

Medical University of Graz

Established in 2004, the Medical University of Graz became its own institution after being a part of the University of Graz zins 1863. Inspired by the motto “Pioneering minds – caring for patients’ health and well-being”, the university is found on three pillar stones:

  • Future-oriented and innovative education
  • Competitive and internationally networked cutting-edge research
  • Personalised patient care

The Graz team, led by Dr Doris Eglseer, is mainly involved in work packages that will result in a broad knowledge base that is, in turn, likely to form the basis for the solution/intervention which will be developed in the SO-NUTS project.

Charles University

Charles University is one of the oldest universities in Europe and is regarded as one of the top research universities in the world. Our connections abroad play a big part in raising the university’s profile internationally. The First Faculty of Medicine CUNI is the nation’s top organisation for doing medical research and has participated successfully in numerous European Commission-funded projects. In order to integrate and improve elderly care through a person-specific (personalized) approach, the Department of Geriatrics is working on a broad range of geriatric and general aging research topics, including but not limited to clinical geriatrics (frailty, sarcopenia), healthy aging, and health system research.

Université Clermont Auvergne

The University of Clermont Auvergne was created on 1 January 2017. This decision was the result of a process of reflection since 2012 on how best to structure the site to make the most of the new framework introduced by the 2013 Act on higher education and research. The stakes are high. While deliberately participating in national and international networks for the production and spread of knowledge, the University also contributes to the ecosystem in Auvergne alongside regional socio-economic players and local authorities; the aim of this new University is to be a driving force for the development of higher education and research in Auvergne, for the benefit of users and all players in the region, and to further enhance its quality, influence and attractiveness.

Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal (IRYCIS)

The Ramón y Cajal University Hospital is a publicly owned centre, dependent on the Regional Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid and part of the Madrid Health Service -SERMAS-. Since the beginning of its activities in 1977, it has sought to offer its users an efficient and quality service. This health centre cultivates the three aspects of a hospital of its category: care, teaching and research. The Geriatric department of the Hospital Ramón y Cajal and its research institute (IRYCIS) has been key in the development of the most widely used definition of sarcopenia and in understanding the interventions that may help preventing and treating sarcopenia.
