Dr. Trudy Voortman

Dr Trudy Voortman is a nutrition scientist and epidemiologist. She works at the department of Epidemiology of Erasmus MC, where she leads the Nutrition & Lifestyle research group. Her group’s research focuses on the role of nutrition and lifestyle in health throughout the lifecourse, with studies embedded in several large population-based cohorts, including the Rotterdam Study and the Generation R Study. The unique repeated and detailed data on dietary intake, physical activity and body composition and muscle functioning from the Rotterdam Study will be used in several of the work packages in the project.

Dr. Voortman will lead WP2, which will focus on identifying sociodemographic, dietary and activity-related determinants of sarcopenic obesity related to retirement using cohort data. She will also collaborate in WP1 in which phenotypes for sarcopenic obesity will be built and evaluated in several studies and in the intervention WPs.
